About the Department

The Department of Biochemistry was established in the year 1994 as a UG department and upgraded to PG level in 1998, and elevated as a research department offering M.Phil in 2004 and Ph.D programme from 2005.

The department has received grants for research projects from different funding agencies like DST, DBT and TNSCST. Over 77 M.Phil., and 7 Ph.D., degrees have been awarded from the department.

Every year, students from the Department of Biochemistry bring laurels to the department by achieving Gold medals and university ranks invariably in UG, PG and M.Phil.
